Frequently asked questions
I normally wear very little makeup, will I look like myself? I’m all about enhancing your natural features and creating a look that feels like you, just more polished, so you look flawless. To me, bridal makeup is all about good balance between it looking good on camera and still natural in person. I will to make sure you feel comfortable with your chosen look.
What is your specialty? Brides-to-be contact me first because they love the natural looking makeups they see on my website. I specialize in airbrush makeup and I like to incorporate a few makeup and skin care tricks to achieve a more youthful look. My approach in makeup is to create a soft and luminous look while choosing to accentuate one feature, often the eyes. I like to choose the right style of false eyelashes for each client, in order to complete the look.
What is the difference between airbrush and regular foundation? Airbrush makeup involves using a small gun with an air compressor to spray a fine mist of foundation onto the skin. The application is thinner than traditional makeup since the airbrush gun allows a small amount of product to cover a large area. It can also be used to apply contouring, bronzer and blush. I’ve been airbrushing since 2004, and in my opinion, airbrush makeup is very long-lasting and it’s effective for a sweat, tear and transfer resistant application. Most brides say that airbrush makeup feels lighter and are pleasantly surprised with its durability and natural skin-like appearance. But just to be clear, the airbrush is not a miracle machine, it does not mean photoshop, it will not make the texture of the skin disappear, that's why it's important to take care or your skin.
Will my makeup last all day long?
A professional makeup application will last the full duration of your event. Not only are the eyes and skin prepared with the proper skin care and priming products, I'll also finish the application with powders and sprays that seal the makeup in place. With a normal wear, only the lip and under eye makeup might fade, but you'll get a touch up kit and instructions to adjust it.
What makeup brands do you use?
I use many products from different brands. I don't believe that one makeup brand has everything I need, so I use the best of each brand. Only high quality and high performing products are in my kit to ensure your makeup is flawless. Some of them are : Temptu, Charlotte Tilbury, Anastasia, Clé de peau, MAC, Makeup For Ever, KVD, Danessa Myricks… Please contact me with any questions regarding allergies to ingredients.
Can you accommodate my whole bridal party?
I work with amazing colleagues, that I can hire to help out with your bridal party. I don’t hire assistants or junior artists, only very experienced artists.
Will you be the one doing my makeup on the day of my wedding? Absolutely, I’ll personally be there every step of your journey including your trial and the day of. It’s an important question to ask, as many companies in the area won’t guaranty it.
Will I be your only event on the day of my wedding?
If you have a big group, most probably. If I’m booked elsewhere that day I will let you know ahead of time and will decide on a schedule that works. But don’t worry I always plan lots of time between my bookings.
Do you come to my location on the wedding day? Yes, I’ll travel to your location for your wedding day.
How far do you travel?
I'm available worldwide. Most of my brides are getting ready in Montreal, the Montérégie, Eastern Township, the Laurentides and Lanaudière area, but I have done a bride in Charlevoix and Reykjavik, Iceland! I have also worked in Ottawa, Toronto, New York City, Tokyo and Saudi Arabia. For international locations I usually charge my usual bridal fee, my corporate day fee (up to 8 hours per day) for the travel days, a hôtel room for the night before the event and one for the night of the event, round trip flight from YUL airport, 1 baggage fee and local transportation. Write me to get your custom travel quote.
How soon in advanced should I book my makeup services?
Most brides are booking a year and a half in advanced so as soon as you can.
What payment method do you accept? I prefer credit card payments because it is a safe method for the client and for me. But I also accept cash. I also offer payment plans with your credit card
Do you require a retainer?
Yes, I require a 25% retainer and a signed contract to hold your wedding date.
Do I need a makeup trial? To book my services, a makeup trial is required and highly recommended. I want to provide you with the most efficient and best experience possible. More time can be taken during the trial to discuss the overall look you want to achieve on your wedding day. A full makeup application will be done and you're better able to envision how you will look and feel for your special day. I’ll take notes on all the products I used and take lots of pictures of your makeup from all angles.
What do you do during a makeup trial and how long does it take? I’ll start with a bridal style and skin care consultation. I’ll take note of any skin issues you would like to conceal and features you would like to enhance. Once a style has been decided, we try a few makeup options to ensure you are happy with the style. At the end of the consultation, we confirm all the details and timings for the wedding day so you can relax knowing everything is organized and in place for your special day. Please allow 2 hours for the bridal trial. In the rare occasion that the client wants to try multiple style, it will take longer and it will be charged accordingly.
Where does the trial take place and can I bring a friend? All makeup trials are done at my home studio in Greenfield Park and to maximize our time, please come by yourself. You can show the photos to your friends afterwards.
Can I book my trial and give a deposit at a later date? You can do a makeup trial prior to booking me, however, I often have a few inquiries per wedding dates during prime wedding season and highly recommend booking your trial as soon as possible if you need to do it before signing the contract. I can’t hold your date until I have received a signed contract and the 25% retainer fee.
Can you do tattoo cover up? Yes, I do offer this service, as it’s something I often do in the film industry. At the trial, I’ll look at the tattoo to see how long it will take to cover and so I can give you an accurate quote for the wedding day. If you wish to have it covered at your trial, an extra cost will be added. I use an airbrush method so the area needs to be shaved.
